Tropical Conservation Documentary Film Festival

The Center for Tropical Ecology and Conservation in association with Keene State College presents the first Tropical Conservation Documentary Film Festival.

As a reflection of our commitment towards the preservation of biological and cultural diversity in the tropics, the Center for Tropical Ecology and Conservation (CTEC) at Antioch University New England will hold the first Tropical Conservation Documentary Film Festival on November 11 and 12, 2005. This unique community media festival seeks to use the documentary film medium to explore tropical conservation and education and invite dialogue between filmmakers, educators, students, and conservationists while simultaneously honoring outstanding films that portray important concepts in the conservation of both cultural and natural systems in the tropics. All proceeds from the festival will be used in support of CTEC student research in tropical ecology and conservation. A small prize will be awarded to the most outstanding film in each category.

Film categories are as follows:

Natural History and Animal Behavior (films dealing with the behavior or ecology of wildlife and the physical environment)
Cultural Activism (films that reveal realities of human cultural survival in the tropics in the face of globalization and extractive imperialism)
Human Ecology (films portraying the delicate human-environment relationship with a conservation view)
