Field Courses - Galapagos to the Andes - Education - CTEC - Center for Tropical Ecology and Conservation - Antioch University New England
Galapagos to the Andes
July 14 – August 2, 2004 (This trip runs approximately every three years)
This course focuses on the relationship between evolutionary and island biogeography in the most biologically intact ocean archipelago in the world. The abundant, unique fauna on these islands was inspirational to the development of Darwin’s theory of evolution by natural selection and today remains an important testing ground for evolutionary research and a mecca for students of biology. We visit many of the major islands, and snorkel with sea lions and penguins. Participants also spend several days in the Amazon rain forest after visiting the islands.
